Comprehensive software reviews to make better IT decisions
Digital.ai, the New but Familiar Player in ALM
It should come with no surprise that the application lifecycle management (ALM) landscape is continuously changing. Vendors try to jockey among their competitors with mergers, acquisitions, and innovative and differentiating features for them to be dominant players with sought after products. Big name vendors, like Micro Focus (acquired HP’s products), Microsoft, and IBM, have long dominated the ALM space with their comprehensive, end-to-end delivery platforms.
Digital.ai recently emerged as a potential disruptor to this power balance. It positioned itself as a value stream platform, bringing together the key software delivery, management, and security capabilities together under one roof. Even though the software company is new, their wealth of experience and product direction should give prospective and existing customers some thought in their tooling decision making.
- Digital.ai originated from the combination and strategic transformation of CollabNet VersionOne, XebiaLabs and Arxan Technologies on April 15, 2020. Xebialabs and CollabNet VersionOne announced their merger on January 21, 2020 to create an integrated Agile DevOps software delivery platform by bringing together Xebialabs’ release and deployment capabilities with CollabNet VersionOne’s Agile delivery and work management capabilities.
- Digital.ai acquires Numerify, an AI-powered analytics engine, and Experitest, a mobile and web testing tool, on June 16, 2020 to bolster its end-to-end delivery platform.
We have yet to see what Digital.ai will bring to the marketplace and how it will compete against other prominent players in this space. In the meantime, Digital.ai continues to update its core products, such as:
Our Take
The strategic combination of CollabNet VersionOne, XebiaLabs, and Arxan Technologies alongside two recent acquisitions will create more visibility for the new company, Digital.ai, within a congested marketplace. Its platform offers a viable alternative to the big-name players who already dominate the ALM space. Current customers will have to wait and see how Digital.ai’s products will integrate, interact, and collaborate with one another and how their current licenses will enable them to other products. Only time will tell.
