Pricey But Worth Every Penny

What differentiates Canto Platform from other similar products?

Canto is above and beyond any digital storage management system that we have seen or worked with. The UI is simple, robust with features, and easy to use. The Canto staff does an amazing job training, and they've quickly supported us when we needed. Overall this system is a complete catch all for the needs of our company in regards to storing and managing digital assets.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The UI is very well done and so easy to use!

What do you dislike most about this product?

The cost. Canto knows they have a great system and they charge a lot of money for it. But, once you bite the bullet, you see that it's totally worth it.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Go through an extended demo with their sales team first and see ALL of the features this platform has to offer. That will help offset the mindset when it comes to cost.

What differentiates Canto Platform from other similar products?

Canto provides a lot of features I haven't found in other asset management systems. Their integration across multiple applications is what really sold me on using this software.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite feature is the ability to create an upload link to get photos from my field teams. It has always been a struggle asking them to upload photos and then tracking them down, downloading them, and then uploading them into our other database. This streamlines the process and allows us to immediately identify good images and content.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The one thing I like the least is the need to update the desktop Advanced Uploader. My team and I use this regularly to import large quantities of data from our old system. However, if there is an update, we have to uninstall and reinstall the software in compliance with our IT security requirements. I wish there was an easier "over the air" update that could get pushed out.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Consider your workflow and where you can create efficiencies. Canto addressed all our pain points with a simple solution.

What differentiates Canto Platform from other similar products?

Canto provides most of the functionality of its competitors at a price point that's flexible enough for a nonprofit organization. Its cloud-based, intuitive platform has made it easy to implement and train and has improved our overall workflow and oversight of digital assets.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love how easily I can curate an album of images to share with clients so that they can select which images they want to use and I can keep track of which assets are being used for which projects.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I wish image tagging could be socialized among consumer-level users. Our internal stakeholders are content experts in their own areas, but don't/can't have admin-level access to the system. We've had to come up with a workaround to allow our colleagues to help the Communications team properly tag images of some very specific subjects. The built-in auto-tagging system complicates this by not detecting images to the specificity required for our use cases.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Canto is an affordable DAM for smaller organizations that gets the job done with all the expected base functionality.
