TietoEVRY Touts Lack of Lock-In From Third-Party Automation Tool

TietoEVRY is using Ayehu for IT automation to avoid locking in its customers. TietoEVRY is betting on its relationship building and quality of service to retain accounts.

Finland-headquartered IT services company TietoEVRY has partnered with Ayehu to provide automation solutions to its customers.

As part of its business, TietoEVRY acts as a managed service provider (MSP) for customers.

For TietoEVRY, a key decision factor in partnering with Ayehu was the ability to avoid locking in its customers.

Ayehu is a modular solution: it can run in TietoEVRY’s on-premises environment, in the cloud, or in TietoEVRY’s customers’ private environments.

TietoEVRY’s customers can trust that if they move to another MSP in the future, or if they decide to in-source, they will be able to take their existing IT automation solution with them.

“This is a differentiator for us as a service provider,” said Himadri Das, TietoEVRY’s Head of Application Modernization Advisory, in a briefing with Info-Tech Research Group.

Ido Sarig, Ayehu’s Head of Global Marketing, explained how TietoEVRY’s strategy aligns with Ayehu’s value proposition for MSPs and their customers:

“TietoEVRY is very forward thinking. Some MSPs have their own tools and solutions. We often find ourselves telling our users, ‘you want to be in a position where your automation infrastructure is independent from the MSP that you choose. You don’t want to lose the automation infrastructure investment with the MSP when that relationship ends.’ A good MSP is going to win business on quality of service, not through proprietary tools.”

Our Take

It’s nice to see a large MSP promote lack of lock-in as a differentiator and to focus on relationship building and quality of service.

As technology has continued to improve dramatically over the last decade, more and more capabilities in IT have become commoditized that were previously performed by homegrown tools and bespoke solutions.

Info-Tech expects that leading vendors and service providers will focus on differentiating on quality of service by effectively partnering with their customers, as TietoEVRY and Ayehu are aiming to.
