What's the difference between Planned Outages and Planned Downtime?

Thank you for your comment, James. In the spreadsheet, we’re really interested in looking at availability and reliability as two separate issues. Reliability scores look at how often the outages occur which will help to understand if issues are recurring, or since these are planned outages, if there needs to be a better system in place for applying patches, upgrades, etc. to minimize the number of times the outages are occurring.
Downtime within the availability scores are looking at the percentage of time of the planned outage to measure the impact to the business. The terminology could be interchangeable, but we’ve chosen to differentiate the terms to highlight the fact that we’re viewing distinct, but related measurements.
