Swit – Who Are They and What’s Next?

San-Francisco-based Swit is a team collaboration suite that combines team communication and high-performance task management. Founded in 2017 by CEO Josh Lee and Max Lim, Swit released its apps in March 2019 and currently registers 450 companies.

Swit’s selling point in the $45 billion team collaboration market (which includes Slack and Microsoft Teams) is to offer a singular collaboration app that covers ideating, messaging, and managing tasks without needing to login to different apps and plugins.

From chatting to creating GANTT charts, Swit’s integrated suite handles a wide variety of process. Given 91% of businesses use at least two messaging apps, Swit promises to streamline businesses by removing redundant and overlapping services.

Swit will add several new features this year. These include cross-workspace real-time notifications, a cross-workspace calendar, cross-workspace search, and G suite integration.

Our Take

Swit is brand-new and there is not yet enough client feedback for a fair assessment of Swit’s integrated suite.

The promise of Swit is that it gives businesses one central hub to delineate a wide variety of processes. This eliminates the need for different plug-ins, logins, and licensing fees for a variety of products.

However, one of the dangers of having a central hub is that it is not clear what protocol to follow if that hub is down (either for maintenance or from a malevolent attack). Information on Swit’s strategy for this event is still forthcoming. Info-Tech will provide updates on this strategy when it becomes available.
