Cisco Announces New Hardware Webex Room USB
Cisco has introduced new soundbar hardware with video and microphones, released in February 2020: Webex Room USB. The hardware is designed for smaller organizations, with a retail price of less than $1,000.
Key capabilities of Webex Room USB include:
- 120-degree field of view for up to five attendees
- Wireless sharing and digital signage
- Premium sound
- Remote control
Webex Room USB can also be upgraded to Cisco’s Room Kit Mini. Room Kit Mini does not require a PC or laptop, as audio and video are processed from an integrated codec.

The compact Webex Room USB is an excellent addition for huddle rooms. Organizations that have already bought into the Cisco suite will certainly benefit from utilizing this new hardware’s features, especially since the product falls at the less expensive end of Cisco’s catalog.
However, organizations on the fence should consider other major competitors to see which hardware is the best fit for your context. Zoom Rooms, for instance, can integrate with a range of hardware (with Logitech, Intel, and Creston). If your organization has not invested much in Cisco’s catalog, consider whether the jump into that ecosystem is feasible in your current state.
