Full complement of services for any size business

What differentiates Square POS from other similar products?
I've been with Square since it was beta and I've been thrilled to see how it's evolved from a simple way for anyone to process card payments to a full suite of business tools and software. Their per-swipe pricing has remained competitive even with all the added free features they offer and their paid services cover pretty much anything a small business owner would need to single-handedly run their business, with an emphasis on mobile-friendly options.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
it's extremely flexible. I can add 'modules' like Inventory management, or time tracking, as needed. I don't have to buy a software suite that is more than my business needs and then be burdened by the cost of features I'm not ready to use or are not applicable to the type of business I run. When business runs more seasonally, I don't get charged more for running more transactions, which is a great thing. My first CC processing vendor limited how many transactions were allowed in a month, and even how many could run in a day! The turnaround time on getting my funds is excellent as well.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It's very iOS-centric. Their hardware shows a clear favoritism towards Apple and some of the software features are either glitchy or non-existent on Android devices. I get around this by using the web-based log-ins on a Windows PC. It would be preferable to be able to use the hardware the software is really designed to work on for the best experience.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Start with the POS module and decide what you need from there. there are many 3rd party plug-ins that you can get that may also do more of what you need than the full Square suite- for example, inventory management may not be a high priority or you may not have enough SKUs to make the paid version necessary- especially starting out. So get the free app, dig in, and play around a bit before committing to one of the broader services. Even after committing to a paid service, there's a good bit of flexibility there- the only one that's a little restrictive is the hardware purchase.
Pros
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity
- Includes Product Enhancements
- Reliable
Cons
- Less Effective Service
