To keep our remote office engaged and inspired.

What differentiates Slack from other similar products?

Slack is better as it resembles a “digital office.” It’s the best because it supports high-level project work as well as those “watercooler” moments that keep a team together. The difference is slack knows work isn’t all about tasks; it’s about people. It’s best because it gives us the tools to share a joke, a win or a struggle as easily as we can share a spreadsheet.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love the "custom emoji" and "huddle" music it really adds so much spice to the workday.” The “canvas” is perfect for our team’s “get to know you” pages. I also find the "activity" tab very helpful to illustrate where i need to jump in, and video and audio are always clear; the "screen drawing" feature during huddles is a great way to point things out during review.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The “all unreads” feature gets very messy. I wish there was a better priority filter on this — to see my direct manager's messages before the casual chatter.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is the most powerful tool for a healthy positive culture along with maintaining productivity in a remote environment.

Pros

  • Unique Features
  • Altruistic
  • Over Delivered
  • Security Protects

Cons

  • Less Friendly Negotiation
  • Vendor's Interest First

Likeliness to Recommend

What differentiates Slack from other similar products?

the primary benefit over a mere company-wide group chat is that it is easy to establish private and highly focused channels to discuss sensitive projects or even management deliberations. this control and isolation is essential to many business. it provides both transparency (in open channels) and the required privacy.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

i specifically find it easier to jump into a huddle to have a casual chat instead of scheduling a formal call. the dark mode is fantastic and is welcome with a lot of open arms in the late-night working hours. the variety of available applications in their directory makes me feel that there is little I can never associate with it.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I presently find myself having too many irrelevant results on searches, and refining the search takes too much time than I would like, which is inconvenient. the mobile app is prone to logging me out, and I would have to authenticate again too often, which is irritating.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

when you are working on several complex projects at the same time, the channel structure of slack and its impressive search capabilities will be an inseparable part of maintaining the lines of work separate and the focus uninterrupted.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Enables Productivity
  • Effective Service

Likeliness to Recommend

What differentiates Slack from other similar products?

It is best since it is the "standard." the difference is that almost everyone already knows how to use it. It's the best as it reduces the "training" time for new hires. Compared to more obscure chat apps, slack feels familiar and easy to navigate. It is the best as it has the most integrations and the largest community of users, a means that there is always a plugin for whatever we we need.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I am a big fan of the "huddles" and the "canvas" features. The "scheduled send" is a must have for my team. I also love the "search" which can find even the most obscure document from even three years ago. The video and audio quality are consistently great, and the mobile app is the best in the business. The "mentions and reactions" make it so easy to stay responsive without typing.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The desktop app takes way too long to start up sometimes if you have an awful lot of cached data. I have to clear the cache every few months to keep it running at top speed or so.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you want a tool that "just works" and has the support of a massive ecosystem slack is the only logical choice for your company.

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
