The Internet of Things (IoT) is here now, growing fast, and not going away. IoT devices are probably already connected to your network and part of your infrastructure. But are they properly managed?
Unmanaged, these devices have potential security and privacy gaps. Managing IoT is not just for the big organizations and you may not know where to start.
Info-Tech Research Group recommends a three-pronged approach:
- Prepare your people. Managing your IoT ecosystems means looking at the resources needed to support your IoT infrastructure.
- Integrate IoT into your standard processes. Your basic ITSM processes, which you have in place today, will help you manage your IoT.
- Identify tools and standards. We are in the early days of managing IoT. Standards and tools are still evolving, but you can select the right ones to get started.
