AI in Workday: What Buyers Need to Know

Author(s): Jeff Long

Workday is clearly moving AI from a feature set to an operating model. The direction is not just more AI features across HR, finance, and other domains, but a broader shift toward AI-assisted workflows, agent-driven tasks, and natural-language interactions across the platform.

Workday’s message is that its AI works better because it’s built solely on Workday data. Since Workday sits at the center of HR and finance processes, its customers collectively generate a very large, highly structured enterprise dataset focused on how organizations manage people and money.

From a buyer perspective, the key takeaway is that while the opportunity is real, the value is not automatic. The difference between a strong outcome and a disappointing one usually comes down to execution fundamentals such as data quality, process maturity, governance, and adoption discipline, not simply whether AI is available in the product.
