What differentiates OpenText Aviator from other similar products?

OpenText Aviator stands apart because it is a Generative AI platform native to the entire OpenText enterprise ecosystem, rather than just a standalone application. Its primary differentiator is its commitment to running Large Language Models (LLMs) securely on your private data, strictly adhering to all existing permissions and information governance policies. This ensures the AI's output is grounded in trustworthy, compliant company knowledge. Moreover, Aviator employs a poly-model approach, selecting the best-fit LLM for highly specialized tasks across different OpenText clouds.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect is the Conversational Search and Summarization feature, particularly within Content Aviator. In a large organization like ours, sifting through mountains of documents to find one specific policy or legal clause is a huge time sink. Aviator eliminates that by letting me ask natural language questions and instantly receiving a precise, contextual answer—backed up by the source documents. This ability to instantly get reliable, governed answers from our own content, reducing research time from hours to minutes, is the single biggest productivity jump I've experienced. It transforms our 'dark data' into actionable knowledge.

What do you dislike most about this product?

My biggest issue with OpenText Aviator is definitely the sheer complexity of the initial setup. Getting our vast amounts of enterprise data correctly structured and aligned for the GenAI grounding models took significantly longer than anticipated, which delayed our rollout. Beyond implementation, I find the user interface counter-intuitive; it feels quite rough around the edges and makes basic tasks much harder than they need to be. For a tool meant to simplify content, the UX creates unnecessary friction, and its accuracy can sometimes dip when handling our most specialized or technical documents.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are planning to use OpenText Aviator, the most important thing to know is that the AI is useless if your company data is messy; you absolutely must spend time cleaning out old, irrelevant content and setting up tight security rules so the AI only pulls information people are allowed to see. Because the default Aviator interface is complex and often clunky, you should prepare to use the available Thrust APIs to build a custom, much simpler user experience that fits perfectly into your team's existing workflow applications.
