What differentiates Datto SIRIS from other similar products?

Most other backup solutions I've used in the past do not have the ease of use that Datto does on the web. Anything that wasn't easy to use or fix, Datto's Support has proven time and time again to be able to get their product working.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Being able to check on multiple backups for numerous clients on a single page to quickly be able to audit and repair as needed.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The cost. It is a bit more of an expensive product when compared to similar solutions but at the end of the day is worth it.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Shop around, but keep Datto within the main considerations. The ease of access to support is worth spending a little extra on.

The quick setup, it really is very easy

The support has taken a hit since the Kaseya acquisition

What differentiates Datto SIRIS from other similar products?

Datto has been a very reliable source for backups for us over the years. They are able to perform and meet all the criteria we are looking for when providing a backup solution. They have a great support team and are backed by one of the largest leaders in the industry in Kaseya. There are a lot of different providers for backup solutions and Datto has been the leader for some time in most categories. We like how they are setup with their interfaces much better than other providers. They are a great company to work with and we have had a great relationship with them.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Our favorite aspect of this product is the way it can virtualize the machines we are backing up physically on the local Datto server or virtually in the Datto cloud. The web interface is setup very user friendly and we are able to train new techs on how to use very fast. The way we are able to quickly make changes to backup schedules and other options in the administrative console has had great feedback from our staff and clients. The disaster recovery features have saved us on several occasions.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There isn't much to dislike about Datto Siris. It has been our disaster recovery solution and been very reliable. The support staff could be a little more knowledgeable as the Kaseya staff gets up to speed on the Datto features and options. There has been some time to get licenses renewed and the process is not as straight forward as would like it be.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Have your engineering team that is responsible for maintaining the backups, learn the Datto product very well. If you are able to quickly find and restore backups than you can work more efficiently. Look into and test out the other providers to confirm the backup solution provided by Datto is the best fit. Build a good relationship with the sales and support staff so they can easily assist if needed.

Data Deduplication Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

Application-Aware Processing Ensure a consistent application state and support granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, SharePoint

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Immutable Backups Configure selected backups to be immutable (can't be deleted or altered).

Data Encryption Encrypt data in flight and at rest.

Backup Verification and Testing Verifies backups (e.g., completion, accuracy, not corrupted) and enables non-disruptive restore testing (e.g., in a non-production environment).
