The IT support policy will help to describe the basic level of support guaranteed by a corporation’s IT Department. The IT Department provides computer and information systems support for all staff members; however, the range of support offered will vary based on the nature of the problem and support requested. The IT support policy will define the limits of IT’s capabilities, expectations for request resolution times, and what will and will not be supported.

Risks Addressed by Policy:

  • Resources wasted supporting systems in violation of company policies.
  • Resources wasted supporting personally owned systems.
  • Unnecessary IT requests.

This is a good compliment to our Service Catalog for end-users and I can use it to foster greater support from internal support staff.
