Projects involving the selection and implementation of ERP systems pose a challenge for many enterprises. Standard methodologies involve many steps and can be very involved. This research answers the question: “What do we really need to prepare for to ensure the success of our ERP project?” It provides strategies to address five key challenges:
- Anticipating and managing change for end-users.
- Managing the transition from implementation to operation.
- Documenting business processes.
- Performing an appropriate level of diligence in selecting the implementation team.
- Engaging team sponsors.
ERP projects involve a variety of different tasks and responsibilities. For project success, IT leaders must address these five key challenges.
