Info-Tech Research Group Reveals That 90% Of Organizations Using Video Conferencing See A Reduction In Travel Expenses

London, ON, August 14th, 2012 - Video conferencing, in one form or another, is used by over 80% of organizations, and is increasingly essential for modern business collaboration.  A recent report by Info-Tech Research Group reveals that 90% of organizations saw at least some reduction in travel expenses due to video conferencing.  For most, video conferencing technology directly addresses a key business challenge: real-time collaboration between distributed enterprise users.

“Video Conferencing is not just about saving money on travel costs—it’s about connecting people with one another across the enterprise to enable business efficiency,” says James McCloskey, Senior Analyst with Info-Tech Research Group.  “Increasing integration of video conferencing into broader Unified Communications and Collaboration strategies by leveraging desktop and mobile VC is a trend that we expect to see continue over the next few years.”

Info-Tech Research Group’s recent Video Conferencing Vendor Landscape identified Polycom, Cisco, and LifeSize as Champions in the market, all of which scored very high in areas such as UC integration and desktop and mobile endpoint support, pivotal capabilities moving forward.

Polycom’s RealPresence platform continues to be a leading choice for high-end video conferencing complemented by excellent integration and interoperability with heterogeneous environments.  While these solutions do come with a significant price tag, the infrastructure flexibility provided by Polycom’s solution earned a Champion ranking.

Cisco also enters the Champion quadrant on the back of significant interoperability across devices combined with high-end telepresence and room-based options.  Cisco’s Media Experience Engine (MXE) continues to lead the market in areas such as analytics and video sharing.

LifeSize is the youngest company labeled a Champion., Its pervasive video strategy has vaulted it to the upper echelons of the video conferencing market, especially in the mid-market segment.
