No one needs to be convinced that the cloud is where the money is. There is no major cloud provider today that isn't also looking to compete – and, much more important, differentiate – by integrating artificial intelligence into its offerings. But what if the cloud and AI aren’t the perfect fit everyone assumes? Massive hardware installations and open-sourced software composed of problem-specific algorithms seem to prevent making true pattern discoveries. One can only hope that the industry finds a way to move past these issues, replacing quantity with quality.
