Very robust BI and Dashboarding platform

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

I have used Tableau, Power BI, Looker and similar no-code Dashboarding and Business Intelligence tools but I think Tableau is far ahead of the rest of its competitors in terms of their simple Interface. Even if someone is new to the tool, he or she can start trying out the features like adding dimensions and measures, without much of a training.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The options for sub-totaling, auto-generation of best form of view for any data-set, and the option of free-hand formatting of multiple charts within a dashboard is really very convenient. The ability to share across the company as well to external vendors via the Tableau Online app is very convenient because the app is available on mobile as well.

What do you dislike most about this product?

One of the problems with Tableau is that while we can colour-format values or measures, the visibility of the numbers gets impacted on doing so. Also, we cannot apply multiple sorts simultaneously with a different set of dimensions. Also, during initial implementation, we had faced some difficulty with Bitbucket Integration, for which out dashboarding processes were impacted.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Tableau is good only when you have skilled Data Analysts or at least data-minded resources in your organisation. Else it will not serve the intended purpose.

Brilliant visuals and flexible dashboards

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

What really sets Tableau apart is the way it brings data to life. I do not just look at numbers I can click, filter, and move around the visuals to understand the story behind them. It is very smooth and interactive, almost like sketching ideas on a canvas. Compared to other tools, Tableau gives me more freedom to experiment, which makes it easier to spot trends or issues I would not notice otherwise.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like most about Tableau is how clear and interactive the dashboards feel. When I change a filter or click on a chart, everything updates right away, so I can see patterns I might have missed. It saves a lot of time because I do not have to rebuild anything I just explore. That smooth, instant feedback is the part I enjoy the most.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I dislike most about Tableau is that some settings are hard to find, and it can feel a bit slow when the data gets large. It is a strong tool, but certain tasks take more steps than they should.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would suggest starting with small datasets to get a feel for how the tool works. Spend a little time exploring the drag and drop features they make things much easier once you understand them. Also, keep your data clean and organized before bringing it in because it saves a lot of headaches later.

Pros

  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Trustworthy
