What is Progress MOVEit?

MOVEit is an automated file transfer system that lets you manage, view, secure, and control all file transfer activity through a single system. You will always know where your files are with predictable, secure delivery and extensive reporting. MOVEit reduces the need for IT hands-on involvement and allows for user self-service as needed. You can choose to implement MOVEit as an On Premise or Cloud solution – or hybrid.

What differentiates Progress MOVEit from other similar products?

Ease of deployment; Advanced features for those who require custom program-ability; High-performance and multi-threaded; Easy to filter and debug a job-heavy environment.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

We decentralized the primary Operators of our file movement operations and allowed end-user Operators the flexibility to effectively create and manage their own routines. We reduced the time to deploy jobs by a factor of 5.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Many versions spanning a short period of time but this is understood - features and functionality along with what appear to be setting the framework to conjoin the vendor's products into one platform - can sometimes cause the "What version are we on?" moment. Upgrades have never produced an issue though - especially through the trying times of EOL operating systems.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Assess all of your file moving/simple ETL requirements and align them with what MoveIT can do. We did and could not find tasks that it could not perform. Alternatively we found many more use-cases for it after it was deployed and it further lifted other applications from the environment all while reducing the overhead and knowledge required to run and manage the application.
