What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?
the big difference is that this one is built for a multi-year project not something with a few weeks run time. it’s the best way to ensure long-range infrastructure planning. asana is excellent for marketing campaigns project is what you use to contruct a bridge or skyscraper. it is durable enough to support large amounts of data for a long time without slowing down.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
i like the benchmark comparison tools though. i can see exactly where we are relative to where we planned two years ago. I find the resource leveling feature quite complex and it helps us controlling our labor costs well too. the sharepoint integration is very useful to have the project documents right beside your schedule. it is so easy to find everything. the reporting is also world-class and keeps our investors up to date. it has a very professional and trustworthy feel to it.
What do you dislike most about this product?
the interface is something of a dinosaur. (and some of those bugs have been that way forever), and compared to modern web apps, it feels a little clunky. also the mobile experiance is not great which makes it kind of hard to use on the go.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you're at the helm of projects in multiple years and costing millions, you need this bad boy. it's not only the detail but also the historical tracking something you simply can't get anywhere else. i recommend it heavily for captial projects.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Performance Enhancing
- Trustworthy
- Inspires Innovation

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?
what differs this from a smaller app such as paymo, is that it ables you to estimate resource costs and material cost separately. is the best because it provides a full financial picture of the project. It’s how you spend your money, not just your time. i haven’t seen another tool that tracks project finances as thoroughly as this one. it's quite an all-encompassing business tool.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
i'm a fan of the way it shows the critical path. it calls out the tasks that need to be completed on time to keep the entire project from being delayed. this is a way to keep my eyes on the things that matters most. the custom filters are also quite powerful. i can quickly locate any task related to a resource or priority. once you come to know the ins and outs of how it works, the system feels very free-form and flexible. i also love how it works with different calendar types like for those that work weekends or other shifts. it is very customizable.
What do you dislike most about this product?
it is very frustrating when software that takes with hours recalculates the entire schedule when you've made a tiny tweak. it can be like a black box at times and you have to look into the settings for why a date changed.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
this is a premium tool made for premium projects. it’s a great fit for anyone who must manage lots of money and a complicated schedule. i recommend it to senior project managers that want full control over their data and team.

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?
what distinguishes this is the richness of its management. it is better because it factors in more than just the name on a task; it considers their availability, their skill set and their cost. vs tools like asana it provides a much clearer insight into if your plan is even viable. it’s a tool for enabling you to handle the realities of out there in order to actually succeed with your projects.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
i really love how professional the gantt charts themselves look and the flexibility to tailor them for different audiences. the built-in templates are quite good as well and provide a excellent starting point for many common types of projects. i love how it works within power bi for even more advanced data visualization and reporting. it's one of the most mature and well thought out systems I've used, that can handle just about anything you want to throw at it. it is very impressive software.
What do you dislike most about this product?
it can be a little bit slow to pick up all of that info on the instructor side. /users may ironically find if they arent using it on a regular basis that they can forget how to do certain things. it’s a medium you definitely need to keep using regularly to stay on top of it and get the most out of.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
this is a book that everyone who is trying to manage with scarce resources needs. it gives you the information necessary to make intelligent decisions and keep things moving forward. i’d recommend it to anyone who wants a powerful, stable system for use in their everyday work.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Performance Enhancing
