What differentiates Azure Migrate from other similar products?

Azure Migrate stands out with its deep integration into the Azure ecosystem, offering end-to-end tools for discovery, assessment, and migration in one unified platform. Its native support for a wide range of workloads and real-time cost estimations make planning and execution seamless.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of Azure Migrate is its all-in-one approach, being able to assess, plan, and migrate from a single platform saves time and simplifies complex cloud transitions. The automatic discovery and performance-based sizing also make decision-making much more accurate.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Possibly the initial setup, especially configuring the on-premises appliance, can be a bit complex and time-consuming for first-time users.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are considering Azure Migrate, start by clearly identifying the scope of your migration and use the built-in assessment tools to get accurate sizing and cost estimates. Also, take the time to properly set up the on-premises appliance, it’s crucial for a smooth discovery process. Lastly, leverage Microsoft’s documentation and support, as it can really help flatten the learning curve.

What differentiates Azure Migrate from other similar products?

I liked that Azure Migrate helped us get a clear idea of what needed to be moved to the cloud. The assessment tools saved us a lot of time. We were migrating a few Windows and SQL servers, and the platform gave us some good insights.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The automated discovery and dependency mapping feature.

What do you dislike most about this product?

One drawback is that non-Windows workloads or legacy infrastructure sometimes require manual intervention or third-party tooling for full visibility.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Spend time upfront understanding how Azure Migrate works, especially if your team isn’t that used to Azure tools. Try out the assessment part in a test setup it’ll help you catch small issues early.
