Three Principles for Building a Smart City

Author(s): Eric Cabral, David Wallace

This keynote presentation, complete with video components, was delivered in February 2019 at Info-Tech LIVE in Orlando. Its underlying premise suggests that smart cities shouldn’t just be smart – they should be street-smart.

The presentation walks you through what makes a smart and effective city and what guiding principles you can follow to achieve success. To help illustrate Info-Tech’s “street-smart” methodology, we draw on member stories of success as well as real-life collaborations, like the one between Waterfront Toronto and Sidewalk Labs, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company, Alphabet.
