Many assembly line workers fear that robots will eventually replace them. In truth, it is already happening, and it is a good thing. Back injuries alone cost US companies $250 billion annually and the majority are avoidable. Typical media attention related to artificial intelligence (AI), and more specifically robotics, focuses around cost reduction, quality improvement, and increased production rates. The issue frequently ignored, human safety, is often enough on its own to build a valid business case and deliver a solid ROI.
