Standard operating procedures (SOPs) can be challenging to both create and read. Ideally, an SOP will be used regularly as the go-to document to understand and follow processes, but when it’s full of text, most people don’t want to create it or read it.

Using a combination of diagrams, charts, and bullet points will enable you to create and update the SOP more easily and will provide a quick reference for any team members participating in the asset management processes.

  • Start with diagrams to map steps for existing asset-related processes.
  • Determine where asset management tasks will need to be added to existing processes.
  • Determine where additional information will need to be added in tables or bullet points to enable faster decision making.
  • Integrate this information into the standard operating procedures.
