IROCs have the potential to provide solutions to several areas of need at mining organizations. By acting as a centralized hub for operations and information, IROCs enable faster uptake of new technologies across multiple mine sites, and greater (and easier) coordination between internally cooperating teams and SMEs. This centralized decision-making and analysis helps reduce variability in operational outcomes between individual sites and on a shift-to-shift basis.
The challenge is not in understanding the value of IROCs, but in determining what level of integration, centralization, and capability is realistic given an organization’s current process maturity, data foundations, and infrastructure readiness.
