The integration power between Microsoft Office programs and SharePoint products varies depending on the versions deployed. Microsoft describes the differing levels of integration as “fair,” “good,” “better,” and “best,” with the best scenario betweenMicrosoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) and Microsoft Office 2007.

Office 2007 Adoption

Adoption of Office 2007 is noticeably high in organizations currently using SharePoint. Almost a quarter of enterprises using SharePoint already have Office 2007 deployed, a further 31% are currently implementing or planning the implementation, and 33% are evaluating the product. Only 12% of SharePoint users have no plans to use Office 2007. Company size and industry were not found to be an influencer. Instead, version of SharePoint deployed was found to be a driver. (See figure 1.)
