Use the IT Skills Inventory and Gap Assessment Tool to determine the following:

  • Whether your team contains enough people at the right (or better) levels of competency.
  • The skills needed to free managers from having to execute hands-on work.
  • The skills required by each employee to reach your target level of skills coverage.

The output of this tool is a training plan which will provide a list of employees who do not meet your required skill level. However, it is up to the individual and manager to further filter the list for training and development to decide who will focus on which skills.

This appears to be almost a decade old. Is there an updated Skill Gap Analysis sheet?

Thanks for your feedback, Jerry. I shared your concern with our research analysts, who will take a look at the tool to see if it should be revised or retired. In the meantime, we do have another tool published just a couple of months ago, the Current Workforce Skills Assessment, that might meet your needs.
