About Yaj Bhattacharya

Yaj Bhattacharya is a Director and Principal Research Advisor in the Security, Risk & Compliance practice with Info-Tech Research Group. Yaj brings over 25 years of progressive experience as a Security, Solutions, and Enterprise Integration Architect to advise and support Info-Tech clients, and also helps the talented analysts spearheading Info-Tech’s research in the security and compliance domains.

Prior to joining Info-Tech, Yaj ran an independent consulting firm in the domains of enterprise security and solutions architecture, application integration, identity management, big data, and privacy. Yaj has served as a consulting specialist for Security, Privacy & Risk for the Ontario Ministry of Health, as a lead solutions architect for digitization and cloud application programs at the Royal Bank of Canada, Enterprise Architect (Director) of Analytics at Scotiabank, Enterprise Architect and Security Officer at the Ontario Pension Board, Enterprise Applications Architect at the City of Toronto, and as Enterprise Security Architect for the Canadian Tire group of companies.

Yaj holds M.Sc. (Space Science) and Ph.D. (Physics) degrees from York University. Yaj was an instructor for the first Canadian four-year degree program in Information and Network Security, and has served as a Technical Reviewer for several SANS Security conferences. From 2007 to 2013, Yaj also served as an Assistant Research Professor at the Center for Solar Terrestrial Research, New Jersey Institute of Technology working on models of the upper atmosphere, specifically building models to analyze and predict space weather using satellite and ground-based data.
