“IT naturally is a service group, a service initiative. It serves the business.” – Application Development Manager, Manufacturing |
IT exists in business to serve the business within which it operates. Unfortunately, over the years, many IT employees may have lost sight of this mandate. A new IT leader may find that the IT department they’ve inherited has lost that loving feeling towards end users and other business stakeholders, perceiving them as an obstacle to goal achievement.
The key to any IT leader’s success is building sound relationships, particularly with business stakeholders. However, if your IT team isn’t behind you on this and doing their part to nurture and sustain these same relationships by providing high quality service, your efforts could be in vain.
