Field Service Automation Software Champions Take Advantage of Modern Technology to Save Businesses Time and Money

London, ON August 09, 2011 - A recent Field Service Automation (FSA) Vendor Landscape report published by Info-Tech Research Group, ranked Metrix, Astea, ClickSoftware and Servigistics as Champions in the FSA software market. These vendors embrace modern technology and push industry boundaries by offering new advanced features which cut costs, improve visibility, optimize service delivery and drive new revenue for businesses.

“Modern mobile technologies are altering the core capabilities of field service personnel and the market is going through its most significant changes since the 1990s,” said Tim Hickernell, Associate Lead Analyst, Info-Tech Research Group. “Vendors are now innovating around advanced features such as location-based tracking, in-field up-sells, electronic forms and collaboration in the field. Businesses that rely on field service will benefit from this new field service renaissance.”

According to the Vendor Landscape report, Metrix is a vendor dedicated to innovation and goes above and beyond with the advanced features offered in their Metrix Field Service solution. Their well-rounded, user-friendly, and affordable solution scored the highest in the advanced features category and highest overall on the product axis landing them squarely in the Champion quadrant.

Astea is another established vendor that has perfected field service management over the years and offers a compelling price for their solution. They lack some of the advanced features organizations are now looking for, but do offer globalization capabilities and have a cloud version in the works. They were named a Champion in the report due to high product and vendor scores and received the Overall Value Award for the most “bang for your buck”.

ClickSoftware was also listed as a Champion in the report. The vendor excelled in all areas of the evaluation and was found to be competitive in all aspects of field service. They are beginning to embrace newer technologies and services such as integration with Facebook and Info-Tech Research Group recommends their ServiceOptimization solution as appropriate for mid-large sized companies. The company also has specific FSA solutions for smaller firms.

Servigistics is arguably the world’s biggest FSA vendor and according to the report is a jack of all trades in service management. With their well-rounded portfolio at a good price, they ranked as a Champion in the report, but have acknowledged some room for improvement in advanced features and are starting to make progress there.

ServiceMax was recognized in the report as a market Innovator. With an offering built entirely on Salesforce.com’s Force.com cloud platform, they are the only pure cloud-based field service solution available and offer the solid basics businesses need with the product innovation to take them into the future.
