A Business Application Profile (BAP) serves to document the key elements, requisite service levels, and support requirements for enterprise critical applications. It also addresses the complete end-to-end delivery path including the application, the network, and the user environment. This research note discusses how the executive summary can be utilized to successfully communicate IT's role, the critical services provided, and their associated business value. IT executives should consider the following points when preparing the executive summary.
- Specific information areas that should be included.
- The content examples that Info-Tech has provided for each section.
- The suggestions on how to present the information to senior executives.
Although the executive summary is an integral part of the BAP, it can be used as a standalone document to identify the services and critical applications IT provides.
