From the very beginning, Facebook users WERE the product. The fact that humans strive for, and enjoy and benefit from, community, is nothing but an accidental by-product to selling users. Originally, those being sold were the hot girls at Harvard, followed by the guys who lusted after them. Today, every Facebook user has a target painted on his or her forehead.
