According to the National Institute of Standards of Technology, the cloud (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS) comprises five things: on demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity, and measured service. In terms of decision factors—things that you should look for when considering a move to the cloud—well, there are many. We suggest taking a workload-by-workload approach and using our Cloud Suitability Assessment Tool to get a feel for the sort of workloads that would fit well in the cloud.
