With Microsoft's rollout of Windows Vista, many companies need to decide whether they will upgrade their operating systems or retain Windows XP. This note will take a look at the security of both operating systems to see whether Microsoft's claims that Vista is a more secure OS are valid.

So, is Vista really better? Microsoft thinks so. According to Microsoft, Windows Vista is the “most secure Windows ever.” Microsoft states that “Vista is 60% less likely to become infected with viruses than Windows XP.”
