Info-Tech recently discussed a belabored e-mail migration project with a mid-sized enterprise. This enterprise experienced poor project management, unexpected data and logistics delays, and interoperability problems with existing e-mail dependent solutions. Take steps to avoid these pitfalls when migrating between on-premises e-mail servers from different vendors.
The Environment
The migrating enterprise manages nearly 750 mailboxes, scattered across more than 50 work sites. Employees do not have a mailbox quota. Consequently, the average mailbox size is over 2GB. The user-base is demanding and technically sophisticated, with low tolerance for problems.
