Email has become an essential tool in every businessperson’s arsenal. It’s a quick and easy way to send someone a message, plus it doesn’t require a face-to-face meeting or phone call to communicate with someone. However, due to the convenience of email, many people are seeing their inboxes grow on a consistent basis, often receiving dozens if not hundreds of messages a day.
With most email services offering storage capacities of 5GB or more, it’s easy to see why email usage is getting out of hand. Without any guidance or best practices to follow, many employees are content to save everything until they hit critical mass. For this reason, and others, companies need to find ways to not only improve their email management strategy as a whole, but also encourage employees to use communication methods other than email as well as use time management techniques to lessen the stress of reading and responding to messages.
