In August 2008, Info-Tech completed in-depth research on cost reductions in IT. Forty manufacturers were included in the cross-section of North American businesses that participated. The major reason for performing this research was to understand how IT organizations can most effectively reduce costs in the face of negative economic pressure.
Info-Tech found almost nine in ten respondents felt the manufacturing industry is at least somewhat affected by 2008 economic conditions. There is hope, however, as manufacturing IT fares better: Only six of the same ten respondents report that IT is at least somewhat affected by the economy.
