For some companies, a software audit is synonymous with a dark cloud looming on the horizon. A company prepared for the storm may walk away more or less unscathed and even find itself better-positioned for the long term. A company ill-prepared, however, may be left picking up the pieces and feeling the storm’s aftereffects for a long time to come.

Worse, the ramifications can include hefty fines and penalties, as well as a hit to the reputation and future negotiating power with software vendors. For these reasons and more, it pays to be proactive when it comes to SLA management and preparedness, with the end goal of being able to effectively tackle a software audit if it should occur.
