IT Process Maturity Is On the Level

In today's IT organizations, undefined and non-standard processes can lead to serious problems such as missed deadlines, budget overages, and strategic misalignment. This research note introduces the process maturity model and discusses:

  • The benefits and potential drawbacks of a mature process.
  • The level of maturity that is best suited to the enterprise.
  • Warning signs to indicate if the IT department slips into bad habits during a maturity transition.

Although maturity levels will differ depending on the enterprise, Info-Tech recommends a push toward Level 3 process maturity – defined and standardized processes – in order to achieve maximum benefit.
