In order to develop an IT strategy, CIOs need to first understand the high level corporate strategy and their role in the development of the strategy, based on three scenarios:
- The corporate strategy is not documented, or not available to the CIO.
- The corporate strategy exists, but the CIO was not involved in the creation.
- The CIO is a full partner in the development of the corporate strategy.
Based on these three scenarios, the CIO will use this tool to document the high level strategy as it impacts IT.
