Adobe Connect and Cisco WebEx Ranked Champions in Web Conferencing Vendor Landscape

London, ON – June 15, 2011 – A recent Web Conferencing Vendor Landscape report published by Info-Tech Research Group and titled, “Select a Web Conferencing Vendor,” ranked Adobe Connect and Cisco WebEx as “Champions” in the Web Conferencing market.  The second largest player in the market, Citrix GoToMeeting, fell behind in the rankings and was listed as an “Emerging Player” due largely to the lack of commercially available embedded video which their competitors provide.

According Info-Tech, Citrix GoToMeeting provides users with core web conferencing features that are executed very well.  They have an impressive roadmap, but currently lack some of the advanced video features many organizations are looking for.

“The Web Conferencing market has matured and video has already become a commodity within it,” said Tim Hickernell, Associate Lead Research Analyst for Info-Tech Research Group.  “Citrix was testing video conferencing at the time of our evaluation and has plans for a release by the end of July, but their competitors are way ahead of them and have had these features available for some time now.”

In addition to achieving a “Champion” ranking, Adobe Connect also received the “Best Overall Value Award.”  With a reasonable price point, and best of breed features and architecture, Info-Tech Research Group recommends Adobe Connect for virtually all Web Conferencing scenarios, remote and technical support aside.

At only 7 points behind Adobe in the report’s value scale and a close second in the product index, Cisco WebEx boasts comprehensive advanced features, a strong solution for delivering webinars and offers branding services.  Cisco WebEx received the highest vendor scores in the Landscape and ranked as a Champion in the market.
