When assessing the relative health of IT as its new leader, only one question need be asked: “Is IT effectively delivering services the business needs?” The answer will rarely, if ever, be as simple and positive as “Absolutely, yes!”

Getting feedback about IT is one thing. Separating fact from fiction is quite another. Stakeholder commentary may be downright cruel or disturbingly absent. Either way, the quantity and quality of feedback speaks to the amount of enterprise “emotional baggage” you’ll have to unpack before you can take action to improve IT health.
