Staff Experience: Hit the Right Volume at All Levels

Top-heavy IT organizations can suffer poor productivity and a deficit of new skills. Bottom-heavy IT organizations lack in-depth knowledge and critical business experience. If high attrition levels are also a factor, then long-term staff planning can become a juggling act. Take a long-term view to balance entry-level, junior, intermediate, and senior staff and ensure the right skills are available when needed.

Skills Expectations Shift with Experience

Clearly one would expect different skills, and different degrees of mastery over those skills, from a junior versus a senior staff member. Table 1 itemizes the primary skills that should be exercised and evident at each experience level.
