Our Advice
Critical Insight- The quality of content tools is high: focus on differentiating features, such as social tools and the presence of marketing analytics. Select your solution on the availability of advanced features that are most beneficial to your organization.
- This is no longer IT’s problem; WCM has moved out of IT’s domain and into marketing’s ownership. IT’s role now is implementation and technical support.
- Open source is a high quality option; open source solutions now have release schedules and a robust community that provides excellent support for novice users.
- Understand what’s new in the WCM market.

I wonder where Umbraco fits in this list...
Thanks for your comment. Umbraco as an open source .NET WCM product will be competitive on table stakes features. Based on price point for Umbraco, any client that is a .NET house should apply the evaluation criteria that we have designed here and compare Umbraco to other .NET products when building their own vendor shortlist. At this time, Umbraco is not a product that Info-Tech is often asked about, and we have not performed a thorough analysis of the product. I would further suggest that anyone that uses SharePoint as a content repository needs to carefully consider how they will pass content back and forth between the WCM and SharePoint. This is a key positive aspect of the .NET vendors that were included in this vendor landscape solution set.
What about Oracle's WebCenter suite of tools?
Thank you for your question. We evaluated Oracle WebCenter as part of the Web Experience Management Vendor Landscape. Please note that the evaluation does not yet consider how Oracle will integrate functionality acquired from either Eloqua or Endeca.
