Every company has sensitive information that needs to be protected. Although you may think that antivirus or anti-malware solutions are enough to protect you from outside threats, remember that not all data resides behind your firewall and that sometimes, insiders can be the threat. Encryption is essential if you want to protect your data while it’s at rest or in transit. But in order to truly benefit from it, you need to make sure you have the right approach.
Be Judicious
Hackers are getting better at accessing protected data, which might lead you to believe that you should just encrypt all information within your data center. But Eric Ouellet, research vice president at Gartner, says there are many reasons why you should be judicious with the data you choose to encrypt.
