While accommodating personally-owned devices such as smartphones and tablets within a corporate network should be a priority within the NAC market, according to Info-Tech Research Group many vendors are late on the uptake and are lagging behind.
Info-Tech Research Group’s recent Network Access Control Vendor Landscape recognizes Enterasys as a Champion and explains that most NAC vendors acknowledge that mobile consumer technology is changing the enterprise network, but not all of them have explicit features to deal with it.
“Users are bringing a variety of personally-owned devices into organizations and expecting to use network resources. NAC solutions that can control mobile device access are the ones most likely to survive,” says James Quin, Director of Research for Info-Tech Research Group. “Given that, it is surprising that only a handful of vendors include features like mobile-friendly interfaces for both users and administrators. Vendors who want to keep up in this market will need to bulk up their mobile functionality.”
