Vendor Landscape: Application Integration Middleware

Essential plumbing for your applications.

More Details

Your Challenge

  • The organization must share data and business processes both internally and externally, and IT wants to avoid having to develop extensive code to connect the systems.
  • There are numerous legacy systems running alongside cutting-edge newer applications, which must be integrated so the organization can continue to benefit from both infrastructures.
  • IT wants to identify a comprehensive unified middleware suite that incorporates an easy-to-use development tool, ensures scalability, improves business processes, and creates interoperability between all existing systems.

Our Advice

Critical Insight
  • Deployment of a middleware solution is an essential strategy for IT departments that are dealing with growth in the number of applications. Middleware allows companies to future-proof their infrastructure and drive business growth by connecting legacy systems to the latest technology developments.
  • Vendors have begun to bundle their product offerings into a single platform that provides all the initial services required but also enables scalability for future growth.
  • While all middleware technology performs similar functions, each product has its own strengths and weaknesses, leading to some differentiating features that suit different enterprise and infrastructure needs.
Impact and Result
  • Deploying middleware within your infrastructure will provide better service quality to customers, improve business processes, facilitate business innovation, and enable systems to communicate more efficiently.
  • Gain insight into which vendor best aligns with your organization’s needs and which middleware solution will provide the most efficiency within your infrastructure.

Why isn't SAP listed in this landscape?

Thank you for your feedback on this Vendor Landscape. Typically, our inclusion criteria is based on market share, mind share, and client interest. At the time of selecting vendors, we had not had a customer ask about SAP as a stand-alone Middleware product. We may include SAP in our refresh of this report depending on client interest in the future.
