Storage implementers need to make sure that implementation, configuration, and tech support services have been adequately addressed as an integral part of the solution bundle provided by the vendor/reseller. In addition, as many solutions are acquired through a reseller, be sure to consider the following:
- Know which party is providing the services.
- Get references on the party that will be providing the services.
- Explore the original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) relationship with channel partners.
- Find out the channel support program for resellers and where the local reseller fits.
- Consider the stability of the reseller staff/team.
An excellent reputation is cited by storage purchasers as their number one motivator for picking a specific product. However, when it comes to bundled services, reputation can come from the OEM, the reseller, or a hybrid of both.
