The cost of Radiology Information Systems (RISs) has dropped, making them a viable alternative for healthcare organizations with more than 100 beds. Consider investing in an RIS to streamline the operation of the radiology department.
RIS Defined
An RIS is an application used to automate the operation of the radiology department in hospitals. Typical functionality of a solid RIS solution includes:
- Patient registration and tracking.
- Scheduling of services.
- Generation of work lists and patient information for technicians and radiologists.
- Entry, control and reporting of radiology results.
- Film tracking.
- Billing and accounting capabilities.
- Interfacing with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Systems) and other hospital systems.
