Online backup has emerged as an alternative to management of onsite backup for many enterprises. Online backup providers store enterprise data offsite, usually for a capacity-based fee.

A client-side agent is installed on each desktop or server to be backed up. Customers can choose to store all of their data, or only certain segments, depending on requirements such as privacy and compliance. In addition, not all vendors support server backup.
