More developers are seeing AJAX as a possible implementation path for creating rich interactive Web applications. The main sticking point is finding the right tools the build the AJAX-enabled application. Companies with large budgets are using dedicated development teams. This option, however, is unavailable to the vast majority of IT shops.

Help is on the way. A number of sites exist on the Web to serve as clearinghouses for AJAX libraries. One such site is the Open Source Applications Foundation (OSAF). This group provides a survey of AJAX libraries that goes well beyond a simple list with links. Use this resource to:

  • Identify license types for each library. This will help determine which library to use depending on need.
